“All worlds are born from inevitability — but only some dare to question it.”
— Fragment from The Unshrouded Codex
Before the first dawn, before time found its rhythm, there was Shaelaruun — the plane of inevitability. It is not a place, but a truth: a reflection of all that must and will be. From its formless vastness, the Unshrouded arose — beings of pure will who sought to shape inevitability into order. Their experiment became Kaelith, a realm where possibility was given form, and thought could cast a shadow.
Kaelith is a universe balanced between creation and decay, light and reflection, choice and consequence. Its lands pulse with Arcanon, the physical resonance of inevitability — a fractal energy that fuels cities, powers relics, and whispers to those who would control it. Yet Arcanon is not inert. It remembers. It reacts. It echoes.
To the east of the fractured continent rise the remnants of the Velruen, children of the Unshrouded — part mortal, part divine. To the west, the ruins of the Fey, whose longing for permanence shattered their immortal bonds and gave rise to the first Rift. Between them lie the scars of the Sundering of the Six, where the Unshrouded dissolved their bodies to preserve Kaelith from their own divided will.
Their essences linger still, woven into the world’s resonance — six unseen laws that shape all fate:
The Law of Will
The Law of Reflection
The Law of Harmony
The Law of Truth
The Law of Becoming
The Law of Return
Each law manifests through a different faction, belief, or civilization — all seeking to claim Kaelith’s inheritance. Some build cities upon its resonance; others worship it, weaponize it, or fear it. But none can escape it.
And above all, the Rift remains — a wound in the veil between Kaelith and Shaelaruun, between what is and what must be. Its echoes reach through time and thought alike, drawing forth heroes, scholars, and dreamers who would dare to confront the question that forged the world:
If inevitability can be shaped, is it still destiny?
